20 Som banknote  

The 20 Som banknote of 2023 year is produced on white paper of 120x58 mm. The main color of the banknote is red. The paper has a local multi-tonal watermark that repeats the portrait depicted on the front side of banknote combined with numbers. The paper also equipped with micro-optic security thread that contains figures of denomination “20” and the diamond-shaped logo of the National Bank.  

The portrait, the inscriptions (“KЫРГЫЗ БАНКЫ”, “ЖЫЙЫРМА СОМ”, “20”, “ТӨРАГА”), the signature of the National Bank’s Chairman on the front side of the banknote are printed with raised ink. 

The distinctive features of 20 Som banknote of 2023 year  

On the front side of banknote, there is a portrait Togolok Moldo – akyn-writer, poet and educator and the inscription “Тоголок Молдо 1860-1942”. Under the portrait there is an inscription “ЖЫЙЫРМА СОМ”. Figures of denomination “20” are located in the upper left and lower right corners of the banknote. In the upper right part of the banknote there are inscriptions “KЫРГЫЗ БАНКЫ” and “ТӨРАГА”, as well as the signature of the National Bank`s Chairman. A rhombus depicted in the lower right part of the banknote, tilt the note to see a rainbow image of the graphic symbol of Som – C. The fragments of pattern depicted above the rhombus complete a pattern of diamond when banknote is held up to the light.   

On the reverse of the banknote, there is an image of Tash Rabat, one of the ancient structures of the Great Silk Road in Kyrgyzstan. The upper left corner of the banknote contains figures of denomination “20”, and inscription “KЫРГЫЗ БАНКЫ”. The left side of the banknote displays fragments of pattern completed the pattern of diamond against the light, and the year of issue “2023” is specified. In the center of the banknote there is a red glossy stripe contains figures of denomination “20” and the diamond-shaped logo of the National Bank. In the lower right corner there are figures of denomination “20” and inscription “ЖЫЙЫРМА СОМ”. The serial numbers of the banknote are located in the upper right and lower corners of the banknote.  

The distinctive features of the 20-Som banknote of 2016 year  

On the front side  of the note the portrait of outstanding Kyrgyz akyn - writer, poet and educator Togolok Moldo made by classic engraved method.

On the back side  there is an year of issue "2016" at the bottom of the banknote.  

The banknote Som 20 series of 2009 year is made on white paper of 120x58 mm. The main color of the banknote is red. The paper has the local watermark repeating the portrait at the front of the banknote. The windowed metallic security thread with “20 SOM” microtext is embedded in the paper. The white coupon fields are located along the edges of the banknote.   

At the top of the front side of the banknote: there are the inscription “КЫРГЫЗ БАНКЫ”, the signature of the Chairman of NBKR, the serial number of the banknote printing in red ink. There is the see-through register formed the name of currency - «сом» on the white coupon field of watermark.  

There are the portrait of Togolok Moldo – akyn-writer, poet and educator and the inscription “Тоголок Молдо 1860-1942” on the left side of the banknote. The portrait is made with many times repeating inscription “Togolok Moldo” in microletters visible with magnifying glass. There is a repeating inscription “КЫРГЫЗ БАНКЫ” visible with magnifying glass in the lines on the right side of the portrait. There is the image of komuz on the right side from the portrait. There is the inscription “ЖЫЙЫРМА СОМ” under the portrait. The denomination figures “20” are situated at the upper left corner and at the lower right corner of the banknote. There is the serial number printed in black ink at the lower right corner.  

At the top of the back side of the banknote: there are inscription “КЫРГЫЗ БАНКЫ” and denomination figures “20”. At the centre of the banknote: there is the image of Tash Rabat, one of the ancient structures of the Great Silk Road in Kyrgyzstan. The main design image consists of stylized microimages of plants. Each architectural construction at the banknotes of new series is situated at the background of the beautiful peaks of Kyrgyzstan. This is signify that the persons situated on the banknotes are reached a summit in the own area – literature, music, cinematograph, painting. There are the denomination figures “20”, the inscription “ЖЫЙЫРМА СОМ” and the year of issue “2009” at the bottom of the banknote.  

The banknote of Som 20 series of 2002 year is made on white paper of 135х65 mm. The main color of the banknote is ochre-red. The red and light green fibers and also the colorless luminescent in UV-light fibers are embedded in the paper. The paper has the local watermark repeating the portrait at the front of the banknote and the electrotyped watermark representing the denomination in figures. The windowed metallic security thread with a microtext “20 SOM” is embedded in the paper. The portrait, the inscriptions “КЫРГЫЗ БАНКЫ”, “ЖЫЙЫРМА CОМ”, “20”, and the signature of the NBKR Chairman at the front side of the banknote are made with raised printing.  

At the top of the front side of the banknote: there are the inscription “КЫРГЫЗ БАНКЫ”, the signature of the Chairman of NBKR, the one slanting tactile mark for blind people, the denomination figures "20" containing the microlettering as the continuous series of the figures "20" with the raised relief, the serial number of the banknote, printing in red ink.   

There are the image of the denomination figures "20" in blind embossing, the see-through register in the form of the ornament, the portrait of Togolok Moldo – akyn-writer, poet and educator and the inscription “Тоголок Молдо 1860-1942” in the center of banknote inside the ornament. The tactile mark with the raised relief for the blind people is located on the white coupon field. At the bottom: there are the figures "20" containing the microlettering as the continuous series of the numbers "20", the inscription "ЖЫЙЫРМА СОМ" underlined by the line “КЫРГЫЗ БАНКЫ” in microlettering. The serial number in black color with the figures growing downwards in size, the vertical ornamental strip is located on the right. There is the rectangle containing the relief image of the national ornament at the bottom. Latent image with the figures «20» appears in rectangle while the banknote is tilted.  

At the top of the back side of the banknote: there are the inscription “КЫРГЫЗ БАНКЫ”, the denomination figures “20”, containing the microlettering as the continuous series of the figures "20".In the center: there are the image of the Manas Mausoleum (XIV century), the see-through register in the form of the ornament. In the ornament forming the background grid there is the microlettering that indicates the denomination of the banknote ("ЖЫЙЫРМА СОМ ") and the vertical ornamental strip. There are the denomination figures “20”, the inscription “ЖЫЙЫРМА СОМ” and the year of issue “2002” at the bottom of the banknote.  

The banknote of Som 20 series of 1995 year is made on white paper of 135х65 mm. The main color of the banknote is ochre-red. The banknote has the white fields of 4 mm in width from three sides. The red, green and blue fibers and also the colorless luminescent in UV-light fibers are embedded in the paper. The paper has the local watermark - the portrait of akyn Toktogul Satylganov. Embedded in the paper the vertical security thread with “КЫРГЫЗ БАНКЫ” microtext can be seen against the light. The portrait, the inscriptions “КЫРГЫЗ БАНКЫ”, “ЖЫЙЫРМА CОМ” and “20”, the signature of the NBKR Chairman at the front side of the banknote are made with raised printing.  

At the top of the front side of the banknote: there are the inscription “КЫРГЫЗ БАНКЫ”, the signature of the Chairman of NBKR, the denomination figures "20" with the raised relief.There are the denomination figures "20" in the center of the banknote. The portrait of Togolok Moldo – akyn-writer, poet and educator and the inscription “Тоголок Молдо 1860-1942” are situated on the right. At the bottom: there are the figures "20" containing the microlettering as the continuous series of the numbers “20”, the inscription “ЖЫЙЫРМА СОМ” underlined by the line “КЫРГЫЗ БАНКЫ” in microlettering and the see-through register in the form of the golden eagle. The vertical ornamental strip is located on the right.   

At the top of the back side of the banknote: there are the serial number printed in red ink, the inscription “КЫРГЫЗ БАНКЫ”, underlined by the line with the inscription "КЫРГЫЗ БАНКЫ" in microlettering and the denomination figures “20”. The image of the Manas Mausoleum (XIV century), and the see-through register are located in the center. The number "20" and the serial number printed in black ink are situated at the bottom of banknote. The inscription “ЖЫЙЫРМА СОМ” is located at the left on the vertical ornamental strip.  

The banknote of Som 20 series of 1993 year is made on white paper of 140х70 mm. The main color of the banknote is dark blue. The colorless luminescent in UV-light fibers are embedded in the paper. The paper has the watermarks - the image of the eagle placed over the entire surface of the banknote.   

At the top of the front side of the banknote: there are the inscription “КЫРГЫЗСТАН БАНКЫ” and the denomination figures "20". The see-through register and the national ornament on the left side and the image of the monument to the hero of the national epic “Manas” is on the right side. At the bottom: there are the figures “20”, the inscription “ЖЫЙЫРМА СОМ” and the serial number printing in black ink. The series consists of one figure and two letters, and the number consists of eight figures. There is the signature of the NBKR Chairman (Toraga) on the white coupon field.  

At the top of the back side of the banknote: there are the inscription “КЫРГЫЗСТАН БАНКЫ” and the denomination figures “20”. The image of the Manas Mausoleum (XIV century) is located in the center. There is the inscription “КЫРГЫЗСТАН БАНКЫ” is made with microlettering on the edge of the horizontal ornamental strip. There is the see-through register at the upper right corner. There is the inscription «ЖЫЙЫРМА СОМ 20» at the bottom of the banknote.
